I downloaded the server and started it up (I haven't done anything to it yet, just wanted to see if it worked). I can connect to it fine with my mud client, and so can my friend.... but only one at a time. If one of us is on and the other one tries to connect as well the server crashes. Why can't there be more than one person at a time connected?

Naturally you can normally have more than one connected or it would be a SUD (Single User Dungeon).

Some people have problems with SMAUG, others don't, for some obscure reason.

If you are just trying it out, maybe download Dawn Of Time instead, which is probably more reliable.
